During your consultation, we can help you find the level of care suitable for your needs. When you find the appropriate level of care, you’re better equipped to recover from substance abuse.
Why Get An Drug and Alcohol Consultation?
We understand how difficult it can be to discuss a drug and alcohol problem. The drug and alcohol consultation is just a way to assess where you are and what the path forward could look like for you. It informs you of the resources available and all of the support you can receive if you embark on this journey.
At Red Willow Counseling & Recovery, our practice is founded on 3 core principles: Competence, Compassion, and Collaboration. We are not here to judge you, we are here to help you. We offer evidence-based therapies and treatments, such as in our Substance Abuse IOP.
However, in order to qualify for an IOP (intensive outpatient program), it must be determined whether you are a suitable candidate. The alcohol and drug consultation is necessary in order to create a suitable recovery plan for you and for admission into programs like the Substance Abuse IOP.
Drug and alcohol consultations are the gateways to recovery. For some people, it may be part of a court requirement. You may have multiple alcohol and drug consultations and assessments done throughout your recovery in order to measure your progress and adjust your treatment as necessary.
What Do Drug and Alcohol Consultations Consist Of?
Just because someone uses alcohol and drugs does not necessarily mean that they have a problem with substance abuse. If you believe that you struggle with substance abuse or someone has told you they think so, an drug and alcohol consultation can determine the appropriate level of care for you.
Part of your drug and alcohol consultation includes an assessment. There are three levels of these: basic, advanced, and comprehensive. Depending on your needs and history, it may be recommended that you have one type of assessment done over another.
You’ll meet with one of our therapists, and they’ll ask about your history, your mood, your relationship with alcohol and drugs, and then screen to see whether or not treatment is recommended. There are more advanced options for those with legal problems or who are business executives.
What Are The Results Of An Drug and Alcohol Consultation?
Based on the information in your drug and alcohol consultation, there are a few different results you could get. We’ll compile the results of the assessment received during your consultation and explain to you our recommendations for treatment, if treatment is recommended.
Depending on how your consultation went, treatment recommendation vary as follows:
- No treatment necessary.
- Alcohol and/or drug detox.
- Community support meetings.
- Therapy (individual, family, and/or group).
