INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Psychotherapy can help individuals work through complex issues, unregulated emotions, or past abuse. Trauma, abuse, and other mental illnesses can affect your functioning and affect your well-being. Individual counseling can be done in talk therapy, exposure therapy, and other methods to help you have a clearer mind and handle stress in a healthy way.
Individual therapy will change depending on the unique situation of the individual. Different therapists will use a variety of techniques and behavioral treatments to help you reach your goals. Cases of anger, grief, trauma, conflict, substance abuse, or improving weaknesses can all be improved by starting individual therapy with Red Willow Counseling and Recovery.
Finding change and talking about your shortcomings need to happen in a non-judgemental environment. We help you to be seen and heard to help you tackle future problems with a better mindset.
How To Know If Therapy Is Right For You
Working with a therapist can be a scary thing to take on and talking about emotional stress that society tells you to keep hidden, can be stressful. Our team wants to help more people reap the benefits of therapy without worrying about judgment or social implications.
Individual therapy is best for clients with mental illness, or who want to improve their own emotional well-being. If you are struggling with issues like anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, or PTSD, individual therapy will be a good choice for you.
During therapy, you will gain better self-awareness. Clients will learn more about their behaviors and thoughts and how those affect the world around them. Increased self-awareness helps to improve decision-making skills and think about consequences or triggers that come from our choices. Better self-awareness will help you see your mental illness in a different light and give you better tools to manage your symptoms. If any of these benefits sound appealing to you, therapy is a great investment.
Different Approaches To Individual Therapy
There are many different approaches to therapy to help individuals improve their life. Whether you are working on improving symptoms of mental illness, healing from trauma, or learning to better communicate in your relationships, there is a therapy method (or multiple) to help.
A popular therapy method that is used in multiple types of sessions is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This therapy works to change negative thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. This is often a common method for those struggling with anxiety, depression, or another mental health diagnosis.
Exploring the unconscious mind is a complex dynamic, but can help clients overcome overwhelming social pressure, or triggering events. Psychodynamic Therapy works to focus on past issues that can improve your present behaviors and choices.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy combines mindfulness practices and traditional therapy methods to create a calm mindset and help you fully manage your stress. Traditional therapy and mindfulness can help you feel emotionally well between therapy visits.
What To Expect From A Therapy Appointment
Each therapy session will look different and individuals may need years of therapy, or just a handful of sessions to feel more well-rounded. Different therapists will utilize different techniques, speak to you differently, and work on a variety of issues in different sessions. Not all therapist offices will look the same and some therapy sessions will feel more beneficial than others.
To start, a therapist will ask you about your goals and some health history to get a baseline of where to start. This will help the therapist determine what sessions you will need and how to best help you achieve a better life balance. Most therapy sessions will be around an hour or 90 minutes and will talk about what your current concerns are. Red Willow Counseling and Recovery will work hard to listen to your concerns and focus on only the issues you want to work on while using our extensive knowledge to give you the mental help you need.
