Approach:
I offer a client-centered approach to therapy. I think each client holds the answers to their own healing.
With a social work background, I take a holistic approach to therapy by assessing environmental,
cultural, and social factors that may be contributing to obstacles in life. I view my role as an opportunity
to help you identify and process these obstacles, connect you to resources, and empower you to take
agency in life. I’m also a firm believer in the healing power of connection. While I think we hold the
answers to our own healing, I believe meaningful connection through relationships, work and passions
are foundational in supporting this process. In the therapy room, I hold space for processing with
compassion. I like to use mindfulness tools to bring clients to the present moment and help connect
them to their authentic selves. I’m also a real person! I often use a light-hearted approach to connect
with clients relationally. I believe the client-therapist relationship helps form the scaffolding to deeper
healing.
About Jennifer:
I graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Neuropsychology in 2015. After graduating, I moved
to Utah to work as a field guide at Aspiro Adventure Wilderness Therapy. During my time there, I
worked primarily with adolescents struggling with substance use, anxiety, and depression. After leaving
Aspiro, I spent a year exploring the mountains and beaches of New Zealand, traveling by foot from one
backcountry hut to the next. When I returned to the U.S., I worked as a Mental Health Counselor and
Recreation Therapy Teacher at Benchmark Behavioral Health, followed by 4 years of work as a Research
Assistant and Study Coordinator at the Center on Mindfulness and Integrative Health Intervention
Development (C-MIIND) at the University of Utah. While working at C-MIIND, I coordinated a DOD
funded study investigating the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based intervention on veterans
experiencing chronic pain and opioid use. I am currently a Master of Social Work Student at the UofU
interested in exploring mindfulness-based interventions, psychedelics, and somatic experiencing in
therapeutic settings.
Outside of work, I am an avid rock climber. I spend most of my free time exploring Utah mountains and
deserts with close friends. In the winter, you can find me hibernating indoors making delicious soups
and watching the Great British Bake Off.
