My Approach
In my approach to therapy, I firmly believe that it’s not my role to dictate what clients should do, but rather to engage in a collaborative process that respects their autonomy. Together, we explore and navigate their challenges, drawing upon their strengths, values, and aspirations. By fostering this collaborative dynamic, clients are empowered to take ownership over their growth and transformation, making decisions that resonate with their unique circumstances and identities.
About Amanda Huffman
My professional journey into mental health began in 2017 when I started working at a residential treatment facility in San Diego. The treatment center’s primary focus was on addressing eating disorders, with a secondary emphasis on identifying and providing sustained care for the trauma and co-occurring disorders frequently intertwined with these conditions.
My early experiences working with these women on their paths to recovery had a profound impact on my personal and professional growth. They humbled me and ignited the passion that drove me to go to college. In early 2023, I graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s in Social Work and I am now working towards my Master’s in Social Work at the same university.
Outside the realms of school and work, I am a proud introvert who you’ll often find absorbed in the City Weekly crossword, lost in thought about sphynx cats, or outside connecting with and observing nature, usually in the form of birding or herping.
